Current: Will Nadiya Savchenko Become Next President of Ukraine?

When Nadiya Savchenko returned to Ukraine from Russian imprisonment, nobody had doubt that she was to become a new star of Ukrainian political life. Politicians stood in line eager to be picture together with her. Besides, she was a member of the Verkhovna Rada. Russian propaganda designed new message: "Savchenko is dangerous to Poroshenko". What has happened to her since her liberation?

They say, Savchenko had a squabble with Yulia Tymoshenko. On the one hand, Savchenko became MP being included int oTymoshenko's Batkivschyna party list; on the other hand, Batkivshyna seemed to be able to enter the Parliament mostly due to Savchenko's being part of it. Remembering how productive Tymoshenko cooperation with Putin was in the 2000s, one would question whether she really made efforts to free Savchenko.
Savchenko had a military career; she is no political expert or reforms advocate. In the first days, she used to explain the journalists that a lot, as she refused to comment on things she did not understand.
Savchenko visited the line of battle with Russia. She was accompanied by Yarosh, ex-leader of Right Sector (Pravyi Sektor). Shortly after that she was declared to be a part of "the party of war" (the concept developed by the media to describe politicians speaking in favour of leading the liberation war against Russia regardless the Minsk Agreements). Unexpectedly, Savchenko called for talks with the terrorist leaders of the Russian occupational forces in eastern Ukraine - at least to liberate POWs. But such direct negotiations would mean recognition of their status of the de facto government in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which is generally regarded as unacceptable. Mass media, that had an unfriendly order for black PR against her, were glad to use this statement of her's to discredit her and to start building her image as an agent recruited by Russian Secret Service or Intelligence.
Anyway, Nadiya Savchenko's position is clear enough for simple people and they seem to trust her. At least, her public trust rating is not that much negative as of other Ukrainian politicians.

Update 08/13/2016
As Savchenko is eager to provide comments on every issue in Ukraine; as her book revealed numerous unpleasant experiences of her life; as her words enjoy support among people and organizations connected with Viktor Medvedchuk and clearly representing Russian interests in Ukraine; as her position is vague, it is a pity to recognize that she is on way of becoming a clown of the Ukrainian politics incapable of standing against its dangers.
